Work from Home Distractions

Business leaders today have new challenges in this new “not-really-normal.” We are suddenly in situations where we are all working from home, along with our other family members.

Some team members are totally new to this. We asked entire teams who worked together daily to suddenly work independently from a home “office,” whatever that looked like for them.

And those of us who are used to working remotely were faced with our own disruptions. Having a spouse who is suddenly in our same working space along with the children home from school created an entirely new ecosystem for getting work done.

There’s so much we don’t know right now, let’s talk about what we do know.

These are the new realities, so let’s do our best to give each other the tools, processes and, yes, a little grace, as we ride this out together – but separately.

What can you do as a leader to help your team avoid the pitfalls of the many work from home distractions? I think many of us are more understanding now than we ever have been of the usual disruptions. Kids bickering in the background, cats climbing on keyboards, and the occasional delivery.
